“We have Instagram — why would we need a website?” It’s a legitimate question, and the honest answer is “you don’t always need one”. But in most cases a website solves four problems social media can’t solve at all. Let’s walk through them — and through the most important word in this topic: conversion.
Benefit #1: people find you when they’re searching
Social media shows you to people scrolling a feed. Search brings people who already want to buy: “air conditioner repair Tbilisi”, “sushi delivery near me”. That’s the hottest traffic there is, and it only lands on websites. A social profile barely ranks in search, and a Google Maps listing without a website loses to one with a website.
Benefit #2: you control the platform
An account can get blocked, an algorithm can stop showing your posts, a platform can change its rules. A website is your asset: your domain, your content, your customer base. Businesses that have moved between countries and platforms feel this most sharply.
Benefit #3: a website sells while you sleep
A manager answers during working hours. A website takes an enquiry at 2 a.m., shows prices, answers routine questions and books appointments. Our case Archam Print takes 3D-printing orders around the clock: the calculator prices the job itself — nobody waits for a manager to reply.
Benefit #4: trust
Before a deal of any noticeable size, people look the contractor up. A company without a website in 2026 looks either very small or temporary. A site with cases, a team and company details settles that question in a minute.
Conversion, explained simply
Conversion is the share of visitors who did what you wanted them to do:
Conversion = target actions ÷ visitors × 100%
200 people visited, 8 left an enquiry — conversion is 4%. For service landing pages the normal corridor is 2–8%; for online stores — 1–3%. Exact numbers depend on the niche, region and traffic, so compare yourself not to “the internet average” but to your own last month.
Then conversion turns into money:
| Metric | Example |
|---|---|
| Visitors per month | 1,000 |
| Site conversion | 3% → 30 enquiries |
| Enquiry-to-sale | 50% → 15 sales |
| Average order | 200 ₾ → 3,000 ₾/mo |
Now improvement has a price tag: lifting conversion from 3% to 4% is +1,000 ₾ a month on the same traffic. That’s why we design a site from the audience and the path to action, not from “pretty blocks” — the approach is described on the home page.
When you DON’T need a website
The honest section. You can skip the website if your whole business is 3–4 regulars from word of mouth and you don’t plan to grow; if you sell only on a marketplace and you’re happy there; if you have no capacity to answer enquiries — fix the process first, then buy traffic.
In every other case the question isn’t “do we need a site” but “which format and for how much”. That one is answered by “How to tell which website you need” — or by us, on a free brief call.
